The Cafe Gardens are the oldest gardens we have planted,
and are almost 20 years old. They contain a number of mature specimen
plants including anemone, iris, ferns, and many hostas. These gardens
are primarily the work of Anna Marie Yakubisin, owner of the River's
Edge Cafe and Bed and Breakfast. The gardens surround the cafe,
located in an antique Victorian house, on all four sides of the building.
Visitors can walk the brick path through the perennial beds, or sit
immersed in the foliage of giant sycamore and maple trees on the banks
of the Youghiogheny River. Probably the best way to enjoy the gardens
is to dine on the porch, overlooking the gardens and the ever-changing
river below. Occasionally a river otter will swim by, or a bald eagle
may fly over the river and perch in its favorite tree directly across
from the cafe.
The cafe features fine dining, including lunch and
dinner, in a gorgeous riverside setting.
